History of fatal Hillsboro plane crashes in last 44 years

There have only been four recorded fatal plane crashes in Hillsboro since 1962 and none involved an air show, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The plane demolished one home and damaged three others when it crashed in Hillsboro during the 2006 air show.

--On February 5th, 1975 a single engine prop plane crashed when its wings separated from the main frame. The flight originated from the Hillsboro Airport. The 27-year-old pilot was killed.

--On June 9th, 1998 a Cessna aircraft crashed while approaching Hillsboro, killing the pilot and a passenger.

--On a clear day in May of 2005, a two engine prop plane crashed into a field next to Intel's Hillsboro office shortly after takeoff from the airport. The pilot and three passengers died in that crash.

--Last January 5th, Dr. Jay Richards crashed into a Filbert orchard near North Plains, Ore. He had reported engine trouble shortly after takeoff from the Hillsboro Airport. He was killed in the crash.

No one on the ground was hurt in any of the crashes.
