Police question people at Carver Park.

Deputies arrested seven people for taking part and starting what was described by police as a "near riot" Sunday night. Reports showed some people even tried to attack officers.

Officers attribute alcohol as a significant factor in the fights.

Police arrested Jacob Lee Gump, Chelsea Humphrey, Joseph Tyler Johnson, Danny Edward Jones, Adam Lall, Michael Alan Preston, Davin Kaylor Vanakaen and one other unidentified person.

It was on July 4 a similar event took place where a near riot also shut down Carver Park.

“They were saying the park is closed, you need to get out of here immediately, if you have a car you need to get out of here immediately,” said Brad Christopherson, a rafter who was at Carver Park during on July 4.

From now on, when the parking spots are full, no one else will be allowed to enter Barton or Carver Parks. Barton and Carver are the two major put in and take out points for rafters along the Clackamas River.

County officials are also exploring possible restrictions on alcohol at the parks. They are also considering requiring permits to raft this popular section of the Clackamas River.

No one was hurt in either incident.
