Cheryl Connor can't believe her husband's in the hospital. As she sits outside waiting for him to emerge from surgery, it's all surreal.

Jeff Connor was cycling to his Beaverton home Tuesday after work. He was riding along Hall Boulevard just before midnight when he was struck by a pickup truck leaving a strip mall east of Highway 217.

"I flew into somewhere in the center of the highway there and rolled over, I think I flipped over several times, but I rolled over and looked up and saw him tearing away, streaking away," explains Connor.

A cyclist for twenty years, Connor takes all the precautions he can. He uses strobe lights and reflectors, but Tuesday night he found himself helpless on the ground. Two of his fingers were shattered and his foot was potentially broken. All he could think about was being crushed by an oncoming car.

"I could have very easily been hit by another car and that probably would have killed me."

An eyewitness told police, the truck that hit Connor paused then continued East.

"He gave up any rights he has to drive a car. He should not be on the road anywhere. I mean if you leave somebody yeah you should not be on the road."

The truck that hit Jeff Connor is described as a mid 90's pickup, tan in color and missing it's rear tailgate. As a result of the impact, it now likely has damage to the front left bumper.

If you have any information that can lead to the driver's arrest, you're asked to call the Beaverton Police Department.
