Dead boy's teammates carry heavy hearts
07:43 PM PDT on Sunday, July 8, 2007
Players had heavy hearts as they thought about Saturday's deadly crash on Highway 26.
It was a difficult day for players and parents of the SEI team, out of North Portland.
They played in Welches, where one car involved in the accident was headed for a tournament.
Several players knew the boys involved, Tyler Williams who died in the accident and Quinton Brundege, who survived.
Twelve year old Alex Hamilton can barely talk about his friend, Tyler.
Alex put Tyler's number, 31, on his sweat band and he dedicated his game to him.
"When I first found out I couldn't stop crying. I was playing center field and I couldn't stop crying," said Hamiliton.
The junior baseball league collected donations for Tyler and Quenton.
