Couples hope 7/7/07 date will bring luck to their weddings
06:54 PM PDT on Saturday, July 7, 2007
Across Oregon and around the country, brides and grooms are saying "I do." They're hoping July 7th will bring their marriages luck.
Lucky hit for wedding planners
It's a date so in demand, for superstitious couples hundreds lined up for marriage licenses in Las Vegas last night.
Then there are those who lucked into this date.
"We actually wanted June 30th but it was taken," said bride-to-be Joanna. She and her fiancé, Ken, booked the Oregon Golf Club more than a year ago, well before the 7-7-7 frenzy hit.
"We just thought it would be fun and cute," said Joanna.
They had no idea how many couples wanted their wedding site for their own weddings. Catering manager Marianne McDowell had to turn them all away. "Hundreds, hundreds," she said.
That meant Joanna and her groom had to book vendors well in advance.
While neither the bride nor the groom is certain 7-7-7 will actually make their marriage luckier than others, they say they are already lucky in love.
"It's going to be easy for anniversaries. I won't forget, or if I do forget, I'm going to get in trouble!," said Ken.
