Some of the 24,000 plants pulled up July 17 in Yamhill County.

Last Friday, authorities found 24,045 plants on private timber lands northwest of Grand Ronde. On July 2, police found 12,056 plants in the forest. The cases are thought to be connected.

The plants in the latest bust ranged from a few inches high to four feet. Police estimated the street value of these plants at $90,000.

The plant is used to make heroin and opium. No suspects have been named in the case.

In late June, more than 8,000 poppy plants were destroyed by police after someone tipped them off to the illegal crop in Linn County. Details: Linn Co. bust
