VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Nine people managed to escape a house fire in Vancouver late Thursday night, authorities said.
The fire was so large, it was still smoldering Friday afternoon and expected to continue burning possibly into Saturday.
The house, located near the intersection of I-205 and NE 55th Avenue, was a total loss, investigators said.
A neighbor first called 9-1-1 after spotting the flames. All the people inside managed to get our before fire crews arrived and it was unclear whether they had working smoke alarms inside.
Investigators were still trying to figure out what caused the blaze.
The Red Cross was helping the displaced residents.
