Gresham firefighters responded to Blue Lake after reports a young girl drowned.
Lifeguards rescued her just after 4:45 Friday. Witnesses called 9-1-1 after young girl went under water and never resurfaced.
Dive teams responded but the girl had already been pulled from the water. Gresham firefighters performed CPR on the girl before she was transported to an area hospital.
The name and exact age of the girl were not released.
Emergency crews say there is a steep underwater shelf just beyond the roped-off swimming area. The girl apparently fell down that shelf.
