LA PINE, Ore. -- Searchers recovered the body of a woman who drowned when a raft she was in capsized on the Deschutes River near Pringle Falls.
Deschutes County Sheriff's Capt. Marc Mills identified the woman as 48-year-old Lisa Gay Braughton of Silver Lake. She and a relative were wearing life jackets, but Mills said the raft and its occupants were not equipped for the strength of the rapids.
The raft overturned late Wednesday afternoon and Braughton's body was found several hours later. Her relative swam to shore and summoned help.
