Swarm of bees attacks Oregon woman's home
10:07 AM PDT on Wednesday, July 2, 2008
KINGS VALLEY, Ore. – An Oregon homeowner was in for a big surprise last week when bees swarmed her house with no warning.
Cindy Bennett had her living room window open last Wednesday when she noticed a bunch of bees flying around the room.
Bennett hollered to her husband, Rex, to hurry and shut the window.
They noticed that the air outside had become thick with honeybees.

Cindy Bennett quickly ran all over the house closing doors and windows. Within a few minutes, the window started filling up with bees.
“I felt like I was on the inside of a beehive! It was a little freaky,” she said.
When she had caught and released about six bees that were trapped inside, she noticed another bee in the living room that was more than twice the size of the others.
“Would you believe it, the queen was inside the house! They were all outside wanting the queen, who was inside,” Bennett said.
“I scooped her up in a container and put her out the window and off she flew in the direction away from all the rest. Wait, no one knows you’re outside,” she added.
Seeing the bees all over the window and the window ledge, Bennett wanted to see what was going on outside. She said she was simultaneously scared and excited, but the bees didn’t appear to be flying around anymore, so she went outside.
Bennett said she was shocked to see the swarm had attached itself underneath the window where the queen had entered.
“They had started swarming at both windows…You can see that the bees are walking from the window on the left to the window in the center. It was like they were marching,” she said.
Once the sun set, the bees settled down. The bees finally left on Saturday.
Bennett’s husband found out that someone with property near them has bee hives. They think that's where the bees came from.
Cindy Bennett and her husband live in Kings Valley, which is an hour southwest of Salem and an hour east of Newport.
