Driver pulls man from burning wreck in Hwy 22 crash

SALEM, Ore. – A Mill City man pulled an unconscious driver from his burning SUV after it rolled off of Highway 22 Monday.
Oregon State Police said just after 6 a.m., 27 year-old Nathaniel Acuff was driving on Highway 22 near Stayton behind a Chevy Blazer when he saw the truck swerve across the lanes, roll and catch on fire.

Troopers said Acuff pulled over and found 28-year-old Rogelio Cruz-Maldonado inside the Blazer unconscious. He was able to pull Cruz-Maldonado out and get away from the burning wreck until police and paramedics arrived.
Cruz-Maldonado was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was also cited for DUII, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license,
