10:09 AM PDT on Monday, June 30, 2008
A man participating in a triathlon Sunday morning died during the swimming portion of the race.
Patrick Findlay was swimming near the Wickiup Reservoir Boat Ramp when he asked an event volunteer in a boat for help and then lost consciousness.
Volunteers pulled Findlay onto a jet ski and rushed him to the boat ramp where they began CPR. Medics arrived and took over but were unable to resuscitate Findlay. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
