Deaf 12-year-old girl hit by car in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- A 12-year-old deaf girl was hit by a car in Vancouver Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The girl was walking home with another student on the side of NE 29th Avenue, about a block north of Highway 502, and did not see the car coming, according to Clark County Fire & Rescue.
Witnesses said the driver blew the horn on the car for about 200 yards.
The girl was transported by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital. The extent of her injuries were not known, but officials said she was conscious.
No names were released.
The accident, which happened just after 1 p.m., is under investigation.
