10:43 AM PDT on Thursday, June 26, 2008
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office River Patrol rescued four teenage boys in a plywood boating taking on water on the Columbia River south channel west of Lemon Island around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Three of the four Vancouver teens were 16-years-old and the other was 15. The operator and builder of the boat was cited for overloading, not having life jackets and no certificate of number for the boat.
The boat was made from plywood and had a working motor. The motor was seized as found property after the teens said they had found it in a field.
