Three teens arrested in Happy Valley burglary investigation

HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. – Three teenage serial burglary suspects were arrested Sunday night in Happy Valley after a tip from a homeowner.
Clackamas County Sheriffs said around 8:30 Sunday night, 62-year-old William Surplus saw a car pull up with three teenage boys. They then put on latex gloves, rang Surplus’ doorbell as they peered through the front window. He confronted the three and they took off, police said.

Deputies were called and they soon found the suspect sedan not far away on SE 129th. Deputies said they found a handgun reported stolen from the Oregon City and evidence about seven other burglaries in the area.
There was also evidence the three had rented a storage unit for stolen goods, and detectives think many items had been sold on Craigslist.
The three suspects were arrested and taken to the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center, in Portland on burglary, conspiracy, criminal trespassing, theft and weapons charges.
