PSU graduates largest class ever

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland State University celebrated its largest graduating class at spring commencement yesterday.
Portland State awarded 4,670 degrees for the 2006-2007 academic year, including 3,050 bachelors degrees, 1,580 master's degrees and 40 doctoral degrees.
This marks the 12th consecutive year of growth in the Universitys graduating class.
The ceremonies took place Portland's Rose Garden Arena.
Nearly 1,700 grads were on hand to receive degrees, with 12-thousand friends and family in attendance.
This year's graduates represent 145 towns and cities in Oregon, 46 states, Guam and the District of Columbia throughout the United States and 50 countries. The youngest graduate is 19, and the oldest is 77. Women represent 58 percent of this year's grads.
