BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A drunk driver wreaked havoc and destroyed property in residential Beaverton Tuesday morning, police said.

Daniel Cruz-Estrada faces criminal mischief, hit and run, reckless driving and misdemeanor DUI charges for allegedly crashing into multiple cars and a home around 3 a.m. in the 13000 block of SW Butner Court, Washington County sheriff’s deputies said.

Cruz-Estrada came barreling down the cul-de-sac, hit a small car in a driveway and pushed it through the garage, hitting a second car inside and taking out the garage door, according to deputies.

Neighbors said he was doing about 45 mph.

"There was a nice, loud explosion. The house shook. I came running outside, heard the neighbors yelling at some guy, ‘Don't start that car. Do not start that car,’" said Brian Fahrner, who rents the home that was hit.

After smashing the cars and Fahrner’s home, Cruz-Estrada backed up, drove into another home, plowing through two yards -- and two mailboxes -- in the process, according to witnesses and deputies.

Neighbors ultimately stopped him and took his keys away.

Cruz-Estrada was arrested and his car, a Ford Taurus, was towed. He was being held by Washington County on an immigration violation. He also is a convicted felon.

Neighbors said Cruz-Estrada wasn't familiar to anyone in the neighborhood and did not live nearby to the best of their knowledge.
