Driver arrested on I-84 accused of kicking trooper in the head

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Carson, Washington woman was arrested for trying to get away from police on Interstate 84 then kicking a trooper in the face after she was arrested.

Oregon State Police said someone called in to say they saw a car speeding, then hit a median and almost flipped. A trooper spotted the Kia doing about 90 mph and finally was able to pull the driver over near Wood Village.
Troopers arrested 27-year-old Jessica Smiley for reckless driving and trying to elude police. According to OSP she was fighting officers and kicked one trooper in the face while in the back of a patrol car.
Smiley was charged with felony attempt to elude, DUII, reckless driving, assaulting an officer and speeding.
