COLTON, Ore. -- A Molalla man was killed Friday in what appears to have been a hit-and-run accident on Highway 211, south of Colton, police said.
Investigators believe it happened Friday morning.
A utility worker spotted a body in a ditch on the eastbound shoulder of Highway 211 about 1:15 p.m.
The victim, 23-year-old Justin L. White, was walking in the area of the highway toward Colton, where his mother lives, at about 2 a.m. when he was struck from behind by an unknown eastbound vehicle, according to Oregon State Police Sergeant Dan Swift.
Scene evidence indicates the suspect’s vehicle should have extensive front damage including the headlight assembly area.
White was wearing dark clothing. Investigators do not know if he was walking on the highway or on the shoulder.
Anyone with information is asked to call Oregon State Police Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888.
The eastbound lane was closed for about three hours.
