NEWBERG, Ore. -- A former Newberg man wanted on more than 45 charges of sexually abusing young women was arrested in Indiana after Yamhill County ran a segment about him on “America’s Most Wanted.”

Michael D. LeMasters, 43, fled Oregon in October 2008, just before warrants for his arrest were issued in Yamhill, Washington and Clackamas counties, according to the Yamhill sheriff’s office.

The “America’s Most Wanted” segment ran on Feb. 11. Sheriff Jack Crabtree said “multiple tips pertaining to LeMasters whereabouts” began to pour in shortly afterward.

LeMasters was tracked to a central Florida car wash by a fugitive task force but disappeared again, possibly tipped off to his listing on the television show, Yamhill authorities said.

The fugitive was finally arrested on Tuesday, May 12, at a truck weigh station in rural Indiana, according to the "America's Most Wanted" website.

LeMasters was traveling in a semi-truck that was pulled over by local authorities, Crabtree said. He gave his real name and was taken into custody without incident.

LeMasters faces first degree sexual abuse, attempted sexual abuse, first degree sodomy, fourth degree felony assault, criminal mistreatment and invasion of privacy charges. Authorities believe the abuse occurred over a 14-year period.

The "Most Wanted" website said LeMasters was being held in the Jackson County jail in Indiana. It also claims the charges he faced involved three young girls.
