Man found dead in athletic club pool

A man died at Sunset Athletic Club Tuesday morning, police said, and they’re trying to figure out how.
At 8:38 am Tuesday, firefighter/paramedics from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a water incident at the
Paramedics were called to the Sunset Athletic Club at 13939 NW Cornell Road just after 8:30 a.m. and a staff member was trying to revive the man with CPR. They took over, but the man could not be saved.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Staff members at the athletic club told investigators that someone getting into the lap pool noticed the man floating in about seven feet of water.
“Two patrons pulled the patient from the water and club staff notified 9-1-1 and immediately began administering CPR. They were joined by the Sheriff's Deputy who heard the call being dispatched. At the time of the incident, there was no designated lifeguard on duty. However, club staff members were close by,” said.
The Washington County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
