Portland Police said officers were attempting to make a drug arrest on the MAX platform at Interstate 84 and NE 82nd sometime before 6:30 p.m.
TriMet Police reportedly attempted to arrest a suspect on drug charges but the person took off running.
The suspect apparently ran into the basement of a nearby home and hid until the homeowner came home.
Police said the man then took off on foot again.
K-9 officers tracked the man’s scent to another house in the area.
The Special Emergency Reaction Team or SERT was called out in case the man was holding a hostage.
As of midnight, police were continuing toe search for the suspect.
