12-year-old Hammond boy dies from accidental gunshot

WARRENTON, Ore. – A 12-year-old boy was killed when a gun he was handling went off Sunday.
Clatsop County investigators said the handgun accidentally went off at the home in Hammond.
The boy’s name was not released.

Warrenton police said they wanted to remind parents to keep guns and ammo in a locked area if possible, or have trigger locks on the weapons.
Free trigger locks are available at many police stations through the federal ‘Project Childsafe” program.
