BEND, Ore. -- Barack Obama is dropping clues as to what his campaign against John McCain might look like, saying he will stress specific plans and priorities rather than argue about ideology or patriotism.

Associated Press

He barely mentioned his Democratic opponent for the nomination, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, in Bend yesterday. Obama said he was open to campaigning with McCain in "town hall" events.

In Bend Obama brushed aside suggestions that the fall campaign may be largely about his race, liberalism or patriotism.

He said there will be a clear choice on policy that will not involve ideology or who is more liberal or conservative.

He said it will have to do with who has a plan to provide relief from gas prices and who can deliver universal health care and affordable college educations..

Bend was the last stop on Obama's two-day visit to Oregon.
