Man dies after car rolls into slough in Longview area
12:42 PM PDT on Thursday, May 8, 2008
LONGVIEW, Wash. -- A Longview man died after hitting a power pole and rolling into a slough early Thursday morning, police said.
Rescuers arrived quickly and pulled the car from the water but investigators said the driver was already dead inside. The impact of hitting the power pole may have killed him before he even went into the water.
Police said the driver has been identified but they won’t release his name until family members can be notified. He was described as a man in his 30s and was alone in the car when he lost control along SR 432.
The crash happened near 4000 Industrial Way in Longview around 5:30 a.m. Traffic was detoured around the scene during rush hour.
