Amber Alert update: child found, suspect arrested
11:08 PM PDT on Saturday, May 5, 2007
PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) -- Authorities say a two-month-old girl who went missing from Kitsap County has been found safe in Wyoming, and a suspect has been arrested.
An Amber Alert issued this week in the disappearance of Serenity Withrow has been canceled.
Authorities had issued the alert, and an arrest warrant for Serenity's mother, 32-year-old Rebecca Forrester, after she and her daughter disappeared from the Poulsbo area on Wednesday. It's not immediately known whether Forrester is the person taken into custody in Wyoming.
Scott Wilson of the Kitsap County sheriff's office had said investigator were concerned for the infant's safety because they believe Forrester used drugs and had a history of child abuse. Deputies say Forrester had her parental rights terminated by court order.
