CANNON BEACH, Ore. -- A whale washed up at Cannon Beach over the weekend and now researchers are trying to figure out how it died.
Ecola State Park rangers found the dead whale on the north side of Cannon Beach. They contacted Marine Mammal Stranding Network who investigated.
The beaked whale is an adult and about 20 feet in length. They said it had been dead for quite some time.
Researchers from Portland State University’s Marine Biology department were scheduled to do a necropsy on the whale this week.
