Police Monday arrested a man accused of shooting a teenage employee in the face at a Lincoln City outlet store over the weekend.

Hector Fernando Canales-Robles, 17, was arrested on charges of attempted murder, robbery, assault, menacing and kidnapping, said Lincoln City Police Sgt. Stephen McBane.

Police searched the area around the outlet mall but were unable to find the person responsible for shooting an 18-year-old employee.

Just after 7 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Springmaid-Wamsutta store at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Lincoln City.

When they arrived on scene, officers found 18-year-old Ty Pedersen conscious and alert despite a gunshot wound to the face.

People were helping Pedersen at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital and then eventually airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland in serious condition.

Though only 18, Pedersen has been serving as a Lincoln City commissioner for the parks department.

Police could not comment on an exact motive but an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the store.
