A Molalla basketball coach apologized in court on Friday for his conduct during a game last February.

Jeff Larson stood before a Clackamas County judge and said that, looking back, he wished he would have done things differently.

The 34-year-old claimed he was only trying to protect his 6th grade girls from a game that he believed was getting to physical.

The 17-year-old ref at that game said Larson was out of control and threatened him after he was kicked out of the game.

Larson was charged with a misdemeanor for refusing to leave the game.

"Instead of me doing it as the game went on, I should have tried to call time out and talk to the ref on the side and then if it didn't work I should have just called the game because it's not worth it", said Larson.

The judge fined Larson $250 for his behavior. He was also required to write a letter of apology to the Molalla sports league.

Larson said he's been coaching for 10 years, but after what happened he doesn't know if he'll coach again.

"I'm just glad it's finally over", said Larson
