Police released this photo of the crash scene near Sandy.

Police said an SUV driven by Matthew Ingle, 18, of Estacada collided with a Toyota Corolla driven by Pamela Benson, 42, of Eagle Creek, at the intersection of Highway 26 and SE Orient Drive around 5 p.m.

Benson was pronounced dead at the scene and her 11-year-old daughter, Clarice Benson was flown in a LifeFlight helicopter to Oregon Health and Science University where she was pronounced dead.

Witnesses said Ingle ran a red light; however, he has not yet been charged in that crash.

Ingle was cut out of his vehicle and then taken by ambulance to Oregon Health & Sciences University for treatment. He was treated for his injuries and then arrested on unrelated charges Monday.

He was arraigned Tuesday on charges including burglary, trying to elude police, reckless driving and reckless endangerment, all related to a previous warrant for an Estacada laundromat break-in last November, according to Clackamas County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Strovink.

The investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
