SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- The chances that your car will be stolen in Oregon are higher in the Eugene-Springfield area.
The latest figures from the National Insurance Crime Bureau ranked six Oregon cities for the most vehicle thefts in 2008, and Eugene-Springfield led the list with nearly 590 thefts per 100,000 people.

A distant second was the Portland metro area, with about 350 thefts per 100,000 people last year.
Salem, Bend, Corvallis and Medford rounded out the top six Oregon list, in that order. The numbers of thefts per 100,000 people were 277 in Salem, 132 in Bend, 115 in Corvallis and 101 in Medford.
But officials said the rate of thefts has declined, falling 18.5 percent in 2008 compared to 2007. The most frequently stolen car in Oregon is a 1992 Honda Accord.
