Missing pet alligator found in Coos Bay
09:21 AM PDT on Tuesday, April 10, 2007
COOS BAY, Ore. -- Coos Bay police found the owner of an alligator that was discovered Friday night just a block away from where the gator was found.
Snappy, as the owners like to call him, disappeared from the Younce's house last weekend while they were cleaning his cage.
They first noticed he was missing Saturday night, a day after neighbors found Snappy in their driveway.
Police said Snappy's owner doesn't have a permit to own such an animal. They said they're going to make sure he gets one, however, owner Brad Younce has a different plan for Snappy.
“When I go back down to Florida, I'm going take him down there, and that's where I'm going to… let him go,” Younce said.
The Younces kept their alligator in a nook in their house's stairway. They fed him cat food and leftover meat and even let him play with their house cats.
