Safety check near Woodburn reveals pot plants in semi

WOODBURN, Ore. – A police truck inspection turned up growing marijuana plants inside one trucker's rig near Woodburn Wednesday.

According to Oregon State Police troopers were inspecting commercial trucks for the 72-hour "Operation Trucker Check 16" when they pulled over 53-year-old Phillip Mattoon.
Inside his truck troopers said they found four pot plants, hash, and a kit used for falsifying a drug test.
Mattoon was driving for the Distribution Services Inc. company out of El Paso. He was arrested for driving the commercial truck while possessing drugs, manufacturing, delivery, possession and falsifying a drug test result.
State police run the checks to look for impairment, check vehicle safety, and look for potential criminal activity.
