PORTLAND, Ore.(AP) -- A former accountant at the Oregon Department of Education has pleaded guilty on fraud charges, after embezzling nearly $1 million in federal grant money.
Brent Crosson, the department's former director of accounting services, appeared in U.S. District Court Thursday in front of Judge Garr King to waive his right to a trial.

The U.S. Attorney's Office has recommended that he spend at least two years in jail, and repay all the money stolen from the education agency, plus interest.
Crosson declined to comment on his plea but said in court that he had diverted the money to an online guns and ammunition dealer that he controlled.
His sentencing is set for June 17.
