Many stores willing to bargain to get your business

The economy may be slow, but stores are dealing like never before -- it seems the centuries old art of haggling has gone mainstream.
Stores want your business and they are willing to negotiate with you to get it.
Clo Jones, 93, doesn't believe in haggling. She says it must be a generational thing because she's noticed how younger shoppers are haggling over everything.
Samuel Manning just talked car toys into a much lower price for a car stereo.

“I just told them I can get it cheaper somewhere else and they knocked off 40 bucks,” said Manning
Evan Twadell works at Costco and says haggling is sometimes an accepted practice, especially on last run items or slightly damaged merchandise.
He has figured out how to successfully negotiate lower prices at nearly every store he enters.
“Sometimes Home Depot, Fred Meyer, Sears, they will all haggle on certain items something they never did before,” said Twadell.
If you do a little internet research you can almost always get the lowest price. Most stores will now match other store’s advertised prices and some will even go 10 percent lower.
I did find one place where haggling still isn't allowed.
“What is the gas price here,” asked Havrelly. “$3.49,” said the attendant.
“What if I was to ask you for an even lower price is there any way you could give that to me,” asked Havrelly. “NO.”
It's true more stores are now listening to hagglers, But Clo Jones isn't one of them. She just found the can opener at K-mart she’s been looking for and it’s under 10 dollars.
“I wouldn't have the courage to haggle on a low price like that, said a laughing Jones.
