GRESHAM –- Police Tuesday arrested a “most wanted” fugitive accused of child rape.

Jose Carlos Aleman was wanted on several felony warrants including rape of a child, vehicular assault, hit-and-run and domestic violence harassment, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.

“Aleman had been No. 1 on the Vancouver Police Department’s Most Wanted list for the past year and has previously been deported to Mexico on two prior occasions,” Kapp said.

Detectives arrested Aleman near 419 SE 240th Court in Gresham.

He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
