A man with Northwest ties was one of three contractors recently found dead in Iraq, officials said Wednesday.

Paul Johnson-Reuben and Joshua Munns were guards for Crescent Security Group when men in Iraqi police uniforms ambushed their convoy near the Kuwaiti border on Nov. 16, 2006. They were among six Western contractors kidnapped in Iraq more than a year ago.

Earlier this month, KGW spoke with Josh Munns' mother. She lives in Vancouver, Wash.

Insurgents kidnapped her 25-year-old son, a private contractor in Iraq, in November of 2006.

Thursday morning, authorities confirmed that he was one of three contractors whose bodies turned up near Basra weeks after someone sent five-severed fingers to the U.S. government.

It took U.S. authorities many days to confirm with Munns' family that their son's DNA matched the gruesome delivery.

"It was not done right… this is the truth. We'll get to the bottom of it,” said Josh’s father, Mark Munns.

Mark Munns says he'll meet with the families of the other slain contractors this week.

They'll discuss possible actions in response to how the government handled the situation.
