Drivers warned traffic jam likely around Rose Quarter Friday
12:30 PM PDT on Thursday, March 20, 2008
The campaign visit of Presidential candidate Barack Obama is expected to cause traffic jams in the Rose Quarter Friday morning and drivers were warned to avoid the area if possible.
Obama will be speaking at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum starting at 9:30 a.m., but congestion was expected to begin bright and early at 6 a.m.
Authorities recommend that people who are heading to the coliseum to hear Obama speak use public transit, bike or carpool to the event, if at all possible.
