The head of a Sacagawea statue stolen from Fort Clatsop and broken down for scrap was found in the back of a pickup truck Wednesday.
The statue that had been bolted into a concrete footing disappeared from Fort Clatsop National Memorial Park on Jan. 20. A Bend scrap dealer later tipped police that sellers of the statue's remains had approached him.

Earlier this month Marcus Bologna of Gearhart got what Judge Philip Nelson said was the maximum sentence he could impose for the theft. Besides 50 days in jail, the 42-year-old will be on probation for two years and must pay fines and restitution.
Lewis and Clark Park Superintendent David Szymanski said they're hoping they can put the statue back together with the original mold, so having the heads is an important step.
