Multnomah County prosecutors are charging Jimmy Kashi, who is suspected of shooting 41-year-old Chester Yeom during the attempted robbery in early March. He was tending the store for a friend at the time of the robbery.

Documents showed that Portland Police Detective James McCausland was interviewing Kashi in Vancouver after his arrest.

"Kashi told us that he was responsible for the robbery and shooting of the store clerk on Sunday March 4th, 2007 on SE 34th and SE Belmont Street," the statement read.

Chester Yeom was shot in the head during a robbery attempt at a Belmont grocery store.

"Kashi states he obtains a revolver from Kojo and then walks to the market, does the robbery and runs back to the waiting vehicles. Kashi explains because he is being pursued he does not get into the Corvette but continues running until he sees the Corvette on SE 37the Avenue where he gets into the passenger seat and flees the area. Kashi states the (sic) Kojo tells him to get out and that after a short distance he gets out and gets into the Explorer driven by his girlfriend Marjorie and leaves the area. Kashi stated the plan was that he was to leave in the Corvette so the (sic) Marjorie Reyes was not driving the get away vehicle."

Kojo refers to suspected accomplice Toshio Takanobu, who was also later arrested along with Shamarke Hassan. Takanobu also confessed to his role in the crimes, detectives said in the documents.

Detectives also said Hassan knew the driver of the Corvette and saw Kojo in possession of a gun.

“He described as black in color, with wooden grips, an approximate four inch barrel, and is carried wrapped in a cloth or piece of clothing. That Hassan believed Kashi entered the Belmont Market with this revolver because he observed him to carry an object in his right hand that was wrapped in an article of clothing and that Kashi had informed Hassan directly before this observation that he intended to "hit a lick" which Hassan knew to maen that he intneded to commit an armed robbery," documents showed.

Meanwhile, the fourth person arrested in the case will be extradited to Portland to face charges.

Police and U.S. Marshals on Tuesday arrested 25-year-old Marjorie Reyes at the Clark County courthouse where she was facing another charge.

She waived extradition in court on Wednesday.

Police think the suspects may be responsible for several other hold-ups.

During their investigation, Vancouver Police interviewed Reyes, who said she had been Kashi’s boyfriend since October, 2006 but the two had recently broken up and she was considering a restraining order, according to police reports.
