Ore. Cascades expected to get lots of snow this weekend

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A snow advisory has been issued for the Northern Oregon and South Washington Cascades.
Cities affected include Government Camp, Detroit, Santiam Pass, McKenzie Bridge, Oakridge, the Willamette Pass and Mount St. Helens.

The advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Snow levels will start off at around 5,000 feet late Friday.
KGW Meteorologist Dave Salesky said by Saturday, those levels will go down to about 2,000 feet.
"We're going to see much cooler and much wetter air move into the Northwest," he added.

Snowfall will begin in earnest between 8 and 10 p.m. tonight.
Snowfall accumulations are expected to be between 12 and 18 inches from tonight through Saturday afternoon, with the heaviest period of snowfall occurring between about 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday.
Use caution while driving.
