A couple from Salem on Wednesday became the first people to get married on Portland’s Aerial Tram. They won the Valentine’s Day ceremony after competing in a contest run by radio station Z-100.

Morning show host “Buckhead” officiated over the ceremony, while co-host Brooke Fox stood in as flower girl. They crammed into one of the tramcars, along with the wedding party, and their families and friends. Newschannel 8 photojournalist Jim Culp also went along for the ride.

“Its just a cool thing to do,” said Amber Gosnell. “I mean, how many people can say they got married, you know, said their vows several hundred feet over Portland.”

Gosnell said her fiancé, Dustin Hettman, called her Friday morning after hearing about the contest. They won the ceremony after competing against other couples in the “soon-to-be-wed” game run by the radio station.

The entire ceremony last just five minutes, which was the length of the tram ride. A small reception was held afterwards at the top of OHSU.
