TriMet driver recovering from attack on bus
01:49 PM PST on Monday, January 21, 2008
A TriMet driver is recovering after getting assaulted by a passenger on her bus.
The driver, whose name was not released, told police that she confronted a passenger who refused to pay and then the passenger hit her in the head.
This had not only the driver but some other TriMet passengers quite shaken.
“They need more security on the buses. There were times that I wish security had been on the bus. I see a lot of things that bother me and there really isn't much a driver can do they’re all alone," said passenger Rob Mitchell.
TriMet officials said all their drivers are trained to handle violent situations and each bus also has security cameras as well as an emergency call button.
