One man was hospitalized after a shooting at the New Columbia neighborhood in North Portland on Saturday night.

Officers responded to McCoy Park at North Trenton St and North Newman Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police found the victim, 20-year-old Aaron Lionel Turner with a gun shot wound. Turner was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

Detectives determined that Turner was involved in an altercation with two other black males on the sidewalk in front of his home on North Newman Street.

Witnesses told police they saw the two suspects running through the park shortly after the shooting.

Police said the shooting was not gang related but they believe the victim and suspects knew each other.

The suspects were not located.
