Around 1 a.m. Friday, officers found a man shot to death inside a unit at the Sandpiper Court Apartment Compex at 118 NE 160th Avenue, according to Sgt. Brian Schmautz with the Portland Police Bureau.
The victim was identified as 25-year-old James Charles Voorhees. Detectives determined that Michael Eugene Mehrer, 24, killed Voorhees, Schmautz said.
Mehrer was booked into the Justice Center Jail on unrelated warrants.
An autopsy performed by the Multnomah County Medical Examiner revealed that the victim died of a single gunshot wound.
Investigators were looking into the possibility of drugs being involved in the crime.
