ROME -- University of Washington student Amanda Knox is scheduled to go on trial Friday in Italy with her former boyfriend in the death of her housemate in a sexual assault.

The 21-year-old from Seattle has been jailed more than a year in the town of Perugia, where she went to study.

Prosecutors say Knox and Raffaele Sollecito took part in the November 2007 killing of British student Meredith Kercher.

Another man, Rudy Hermann Guede of Ivory Coast, was convicted in October in a fast-track trial and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
