Section of NW Brooks Rd. closed due to washout
01:56 PM PST on Wednesday, January 9, 2008
A section of road in Northwest Portland was closed for safety Wednesday after heavy rain washed out a patch of the thoroughfare.
The washout was located on NW Brooks Road between NW Skyline Blvd. and NW Kaiser Road. Authorities said storm water runoff this week eroded the shoulder and now engineers were assessing the damage and planning repairs.
A timeline for reopening the road will be announced after the assessment.
Access will be maintained for local traffic using NW Brooks Road up to the point of the road closure. Through traffic should use alternate routes such as NW Cornelius Pass Road.
Multnomah County maintains NW Brooks Road and 300 miles of roads and bridges.
