The highway had been closed between mile posts 78.5 and 80 after a series of slides. The first slide happened after 6 a.m. on Tuesday and nearly trapped several cars, authorities said. Another shut down the highway around midday. Then two more slides overnight and another early Wednesday brought more snow onto the roadway.
