Avalanche closes only winter route to Crater Lake

A small avalanche in Crater Lake National Park closed a portion of Highway 62 on Tuesday, authorities said.
According to the Medford Mail Tribune, the communication center at the park reported that the avalanche blocked the highway between Highway 230 and Munson Valley Road. Munson Valley Road was closed as well.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for the Southern Oregon Cascades, including Crater Lake, and the Siskiyou Mountains.
The blizzard warning remains in effect until 10 p.m. Tuesday.
