VANCOUVER -- Three juveniles were arrested in connection with vandalism in the Clark County area in which the tires on 35 cars were slashed on January 4th.

Police said the suspects were arrested and booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on misdemeanor and felony malicious mischief charges. A knife which is believed to be the tool used to slash the tires was also recovered from the home of one of the suspects.

The victims began to notice the slashed tires just before 8 a.m. Sunday and Clark County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Cherry Wood Park Apartment complex at 3425 NE 53rd Street in the St. Johns area of Clark County to investigate.

Once on scene, deputies discovered that tires on numerous vehicles at the complex had been slashed. As the morning progressed, additional calls came into 911 from other victims at the apartment complex and in surrounding neighborhoods.

By Sunday afternoon, police said there were 35 victims with tire damage.

Police said they got two detailed tips that led them to the three suspects. Since they are juveniles, names were not released but police did share some information. They said one of the suspects was a 14-year-old boy who attends Gaiser Middle School, the second suspect is a 13-year-old boy who also attends Gaiser Middle School, and the third suspect is a 14-year-old boy who attends Hudsons Bay High School.

A Good Samaritan contacted KGW on Sunday and said he'd like to help the victims of the vandalism. Don Orange said his business, Hoesly Eco Auto and Tire, will replace their slashed tires at his cost, plus install them for free. He said the offer would be good through Wednesday at his shop located at 210 W. McLaughlin.
